While extreme heat has subsided, sweltering weather continues today, Saturday, the 8th, as we head into the weekend. Inland areas will see scattered showers, while heavy rain is expected along the east coast. Let us connect to the weather center for the latest forecast.

Strong shower clouds are currently developing in inland Gyeongsangbuk-do, including Daegu.

Rain is pouring down heavily at a rate of 10mm to 30mm per hour.

Consequently, heavy rain advisories and warnings are currently in effect along the Gyeongsang region and the east coast.

Meanwhile, due to Typhoon Dolphin currently passing through the waters west of Okinawa, Japan, strong easterly winds are flowing into our country.

Heavy rain will be concentrated in the east coast regions where these strong easterly winds converge until tomorrow, and Jeju, affected indirectly by the typhoon, should prepare for very strong winds and high waves.

Until the day after tomorrow, more than 150mm of heavy rain is expected in the east coast of Gangwon, more than 120mm in the northern east coast of Gyeongsangbuk-do, and up to 70mm of rain will continue in the mountainous areas of Jeju.

Inland areas may also experience sudden, thundery showers ranging from 5mm to 40mm in various places until tonight.

Sweltering heat of around 35°C (95°F) continues nationwide today.

Currently, due to intense sunlight, the temperature in Seoul has soared to 36.7°C (98°F).

Winds are expected to blow somewhat strongly nationwide until tomorrow.

Heatwaves and tropical nights are forecasted to persist into next week as well.
