A fire broke out at an apartment in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, leaving a mother and daughter dead inside their home.

At around 4:35 AM today (August 8), a fire occurred in a second-floor unit of a 13-story apartment building in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, resulting in the deaths of a woman in her 90s and her daughter in her 60s.

Additionally, about 40 residents of the apartment building were evacuated in a hurry.

Fire authorities mobilized 18 pieces of equipment and 54 personnel to extinguish the fire in about 20 minutes. During the search for casualties, they discovered the mother and daughter in a state of cardiac arrest.

It was reported that both individuals had great difficulty moving around.

Police and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.
