A sudden power outage left approximately 1,200 households in an apartment complex in Suseong-gu, Daegu, enduring inconvenience for four and a half hours amid a heatwave.

According to the Suseong-gu Office and other sources today (August 8), a blackout occurred across the entire Hana apartment complex in Maeho-dong at around 11:35 PM yesterday, causing distress for residents.

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), which received reports of the outage, has been carrying out emergency restoration work at the complex.

KEPCO explained that while it finished repairing the faulty high-voltage power distribution lines around 2:20 AM today, power supply has been delayed because the apartment's internal electrical equipment has not yet been restored.

A fire department official said, "We received about 20 reports of loud popping sounds coming from the transformer," adding, "No rescue situations have occurred."

Yesterday, Daegu's daytime high soared to 37.4°C (99°F), prompting a heavy heatwave warning to be issued temporarily.

Around 2:00 AM today, the temperature near the apartment complex was recorded at 28.1°C (83°F).

The Suseong-gu Office sent out emergency safety text messages to local residents advising them to take precautions against safety accidents, such as turning off all appliance power.
