Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party, chair of the National Assembly's special committee investigating the June 3 ballot shortage incident, stated regarding allegations of voter turnout manipulation by the National Election Commission that calling the false input of voter turnout vote rigging is a logical leap and agitation.

Rep. Yoon made the remarks today (the 7th) during a meeting titled "Suggestions from College Students to the Establishment Regarding the National Election Commission's Ballot Shortage Incident," co-hosted at the National Assembly with the Liberty Korea Youth Association, a conservative youth organization.

His response came after a college student expressed the opinion that the National Election Commission's computer manipulation has been revealed, making it difficult to view the incident as mere electoral incompetence.

Rep. Yoon also addressed comments made by People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk and others, who have claimed that manipulating voter turnout naturally leads to vote share manipulation.

Rep. Yoon stated, "Party leader Jang and lawmaker Joo Jin-woo say that voter turnout manipulation inevitably leads to vote share manipulation, but those are completely different matters, as different as heaven and earth."

He emphasized, "We must not engage in politics that expands and reproduces suspicions of election fraud while exploiting public anger."

He added, "Political parties should not amplify and exploit the anger of the public square, but rather resolve issues within the institutional framework."

Rep. Yoon also mentioned the recount at the Jamsil Olympic Park counting station, which the special investigation committee plans to conduct this month.

Rep. Yoon explained, "Since election fraud theorists claim that ballots were destroyed, we are going to check whether all 1,900 ballots are there."

He pointed out, "However, even people within our own party oppose it. Some people say that conducting a recount will only weaken the momentum of the public square."

Regarding the oversight and inspection body for the National Election Commission, Rep. Yoon stated, "We should create an independent, permanent audit committee and grant recommendation authority to both ruling and opposition parties, and mandate that the results be reported to the National Assembly."
