1. As today (August 7), which is Ipchu (the beginning of autumn), heavy heat wave warnings remain in effect for the Seoul metropolitan area, temperatures in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province are forecast to soar up to 39°C (102°F). Over the weekend, the highest temperatures in the metropolitan area will hover around 35°C (95°F), slightly easing the intensity of the heat wave.

The joint prosecution-police investigation headquarters probing the National Election Commission's (NEC) vote statistics manipulation scandal has launched raids on the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and North Chungcheong election commissions, where manipulation is suspected. The joint probe team plans to investigate the circumstances under which the "manipulation guidelines" sent down by the National Election Commission on election day were drafted and transmitted, as well as what specific measures the regional election commissions actually took.

3. President Lee Jae-myung will preside over the second real estate policy review meeting this afternoon. The meeting is expected to discuss plans to expand housing supply alongside revisions to real estate tax policies.
