President Lee Jae-myung received promotion reports from newly promoted generals and awarded them tassels for their Samjeonggeom (Three Spirits Swords).

Today (the 7th), President Lee presented the tassels to General Lee Sang-ryeol of the Army (Commander of the Ground Operations Command), Lieutenant General Park Heung-jae of the Air Force (Superintendent of the Korea Air Force Academy), Lieutenant General Yoon Han-il of the Army (Chief of Staff of the Ground Operations Command), and Lieutenant General Cho Choong-ho of the Navy (Vice Chief of Naval Operations) at the Blue House, offering them congratulations.

The "three spirits" (Samjeong) of the Samjeonggeom signify that the Army, Navy, and Air Force must unite as one to achieve the three spirits of national defense, unification, and prosperity.

The Samjeonggeom is initially awarded upon promotion to brigadier general. When an officer is promoted to lieutenant general or general, the president attaches a tassel—a ribbon engraved with the officer's rank, name, date of presentation, and the president's name—to the sword.
