Comedian Kim Kyu-won's past deeds of caring for an elementary school student with limited mobility while serving as a public service worker have belatedly come to light, drawing touching responses.

On the 7th, one illustrator shared a drawing based on a reader's submission on Instagram. The submitter is a parent who has been raising a son who has used a wheelchair since the fourth grade of elementary school due to congenital myopathy.

The submitter recalled, "I cannot express how nervous and worried I was on the first day he went to and from school in a wheelchair." They added, "We received help from the public service workers at the school, but some of them seemed annoyed and overtly said things like 'I can't do this,' which always left me walking on eggshells and crying alone in distress."

According to the submitter, when the child reached the fifth grade of elementary school, he met Kim Kyu-won, who was working as a public service worker at the time. The public service worker, who listened well to the child and truly cherished him, was a tremendous help especially when the child had a urinary accident at school.

The submitter explained, "I received a phone call from him, and while I was flustered because I was far away and couldn't go right away, he told me not to worry as he would handle it himself." Afterward, when they met at dismissal time, Kim Kyu-won had hand-washed the child's underwear, dried it in the sun, and neatly folded it in a plastic bag to hand over. It is said that when the apologetic submitter expressed her gratitude, he instead apologized, saying, "I called you unnecessarily and made you anxious."

Ahead of his discharge from service, Kim Kyu-won prepared rice cakes to share at the school, said a tearful goodbye to the child, and promised to attend the elementary school graduation ceremony. However, after all family members tested positive for COVID-19, the visit to the graduation ceremony fell through, and Kim Kyu-won instead left a bouquet of flowers and a gift in front of their home before leaving.

After seeing Kim Kyu-won active in broadcasts and on YouTube, the submitter reached out to him again, and Kim Kyu-won renewed his promise to attend the middle school graduation ceremony. Despite his busy broadcasting schedule, he kept his promise and visited the actual graduation ceremony site.

The submitter expressed, "Thank you so much to the teacher, and our family is so thrilled that you are doing well. To our family, the teacher ranks number zero among all celebrities," adding, "Thank you so much for giving our child wonderful memories, and we sincerely wish you even greater success in all your endeavors."

Debuting on tvN's "Comedy Big League" in 2023, Kim Kyu-won joined "SNL Korea" starting from season 5 and made his face known through sub-characters such as "Gyu-katsu." At the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards held on the 31st of last month, he won the Best New Male Entertainer award for "SNL Korea."
