An Byeong-hun and Song Young-han finished the first round of the LIV Golf New York tournament tied for 24th place.

An shot a 1-over par 72 with three birdies and four bogeys in the first round held at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster (par 71) in Bedminster, New Jersey, on August 7 (KST).

Starting on the 6th hole (par 4), An had a shaky start by recording a bogey on his very first hole.

He turned the momentum around by grabbing birdies on the 15th hole (par 5) and the 18th hole (par 5), but slipped down the leaderboard after carding consecutive bogeys late in the round on the 3rd hole (par 4) and the 4th hole (par 3).

Song dropped toward the bottom of the leaderboard after starting with a double bogey on his first hole, the 15th (par 5), followed by bogeys on the 18th (par 5) and the 2nd (par 4), but recovered strokes by surging with three birdies on the back nine.

Kim Min-gyu, competing in the same tournament, finished tied for 36th at 3-over par 74, while Moon Do-yeob tied for 49th at 5-over par 76.

Joaquin Niemann (Chile), who won the Busan tournament last May, finished the first round alone in the lead at 7-under par 64, beating Lucas Herbert (Australia) and Ian Poulter (England), who both shot 5-under par 66, by two strokes.

LIV Golf, which has faced financial difficulties due to the withdrawal of support from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has three tournaments left this season: this event, LIV Golf Indianapolis (August 21–24), and the LIV Golf Team Championship Michigan (August 28–31). Local media outlets have reported that the hosting of the final Michigan tournament remains uncertain.

Amidst this situation, LIV Golf announced on August 6 that it has secured a new investment source and aims to finalize the contract in September.
