[Anchor] Did the ceiling of a police station lobby suddenly collapse?
[Reporter] Yesterday morning, an accident occurred at the lobby of the Seocho Police Station in Seoul where the ceiling collapsed.
Building materials such as gypsum board poured down all at once. Fortunately, the accident occurred early in the morning, resulting in no casualties among civil petitioners or staff.
The area where the accident happened is known to have undergone a new renovation of the ceiling and lighting last April.
A police officer said, "I thought it was strange when I arrived for work because 'Watch out for ceiling' and 'No entry' signs were already set up, but about two hours later, the ceiling collapsed with a loud noise."
The Seocho Police Station building is over 40 years old, having been completed in 1985. Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including whether there was any shoddy construction during the remodeling process.
