Japan's Ministry of Defense announced on the 6th that North Korea has launched a projectile likely to be a ballistic missile, and it appears to have landed outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

The ministry added that, at this point, there is no impact from the projectile on areas surrounding Japan.

The Japanese government reportedly convened an emergency response team consisting of officials from relevant ministries at the Crisis Management Center of the Prime Minister's Office to gather and verify information.

Prime Minister Takaichi instructed officials on this day to dedicate all efforts to gathering and analyzing information, to provide prompt and accurate details to the public, and to thoroughly ensure the safety of aircraft and vessels to prepare for any unexpected contingencies.

NHK reported that this marks the sixth time this year that the Ministry of Defense has announced the launch of a ballistic missile or a projectile suspected to be one by North Korea.
