Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization officially launched "Run Gyeonggi," a running-based local tourism platform, starting today (August 6) to boost regional tourism.

Run Gyeonggi offers various programs, including 10 runtrip packages set against the backdrop of Gyeonggi Province's 31 cities and counties, regional running sessions, 46 "Gyeonggi Pacers," and local content.

The 10 runtrip packages, developed in collaboration with local cities and counties, combine running with local tourist attractions.

First, a 1-night, 2-day runtrip combining summer marine tourism and running will run from August 22 to 23, centered around Turtle Island and Wave Park in Siheung, major tourist spots in the city.

A total of 25 participants will be recruited, with applications opening on August 7.

In September, a runtrip featuring the Geumgwang Lake trail in Anseong will be held, followed by events in Gapyeong, Yangpyeong, Hanam, Suwon, Yeoju, Gwangmyeong, Pocheon, and Paju.

Gyeonggi Pacers—consisting of 46 runners selected for their high understanding of local areas who discover running courses and build local running cultures across Gyeonggi Province—will directly discover running courses and plan and operate programs to run alongside participants.

Detailed schedules and applications for the runtrips and Gyeonggi Pacers can be found on the Run Gyeonggi platform (www.rungg.co.kr).

An official from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization said, "Tourism is evolving beyond simply visiting famous spots into a direction where people directly experience local daily life and culture. Through Run Gyeonggi, we will connect runners who know the areas best with hidden tourism resources throughout Gyeonggi Province, creating a running tourism culture where anyone can travel through the region while running."
