The Korea Road Traffic Authority has issued a special warning to drivers and passengers, revealing that the interior surface temperature of vehicles parked outdoors for extended periods in scorching heat soared up to 85.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the authority's measurements taken after parking vehicles outdoors for about 4 hours in a 34°C (93°F) environment on the 5th, the dashboard temperature of a black vehicle reached a maximum of 85.5°C (186°F), while that of a white vehicle rose up to 73.7°C (165°F), showing a difference of about 12 degrees depending on the vehicle color.

The authority explained that because the inside of a vehicle heats up rapidly in a short period of time, sufficient ventilation and air conditioning are necessary before boarding.
