A sell sidecar, which temporarily suspends program sell quotes, has been triggered as the KOSPI plummeted by 4% to 5% during trading.
According to the Korea Exchange, the effect of program sell quotes on the main bourse was suspended for five minutes starting at 10:18 AM today (the 6th) due to fluctuations in the KOSPI 200 futures index.
At the time of the trigger, the KOSPI 200 futures index stood at 987.24, down 52.48 points or 5.04% from the previous trading day's close.
A sell sidecar on the main stock market is triggered when the KOSPI 200 futures index drops by 5% or more and persists for one minute.
As of 10:30 AM, the KOSPI index is down by around 5% and the KOSDAQ index is down by around 2%.
