Amid a nationwide heatwave, a temporary blackout occurred on Daebudo Island in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, causing inconvenience to local residents.

According to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), a power outage occurred at around 1:30 PM today (August 5) in Daebubuk-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan, after a crow landed on a utility pole and sparks suddenly erupted.

The incident cut off electricity to 672 households, including homes and commercial buildings.

KEPCO completed restoration work about two hours later at around 3:40 PM.

"The blackout occurred when a crow perched on a utility pole and made contact with the power facilities," a KEPCO official said.
