This morning (August 5), Seoul recorded a morning low of 29°C (84°F), the highest temperature ever for a tropical night in the city.

Temperatures in Seoul have already exceeded 34°C (93°F).

Daytime temperatures in Gimhae have also risen close to 35°C (95°F).

Seoul's daytime high is expected to reach 39°C (102°F) today, marking the hottest day of this summer.

Gwangju's daytime high will surge up to 38°C (100°F).

Between this afternoon and evening, sudden and heavy showers are expected mainly in western regions, while rain will continue in Jeju until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the 13th typhoon, Dolphin, is currently located in the waters east of Okinawa, Japan.

Depending on the typhoon's path, we need to monitor further to see whether South Korea's heat wave will be prolonged or if incoming rain will ease the scorching temperatures.

Exact impacts are expected to become clearer by the latter half of this week.
