Police investigating allegations that Starbucks insulted persons of merit from the May 18 Democratization Movement through its 'Tank Day' promotion conducted a raid on the Starbucks headquarters today.

According to police, the Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has been sending investigators to the Starbucks Korea headquarters located in the Centerfield building in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and conducting the raid since this morning.

This is the first time police have raided Starbucks in connection with the allegations.

The search warrant specifies charges including insult.

Previously, persons of merit from the May 18 Democratization Movement and the civic group Citizens' Livelihood Countermeasures Committee filed complaints and accusations against figures including Chairman Jung in May, citing violations of the Special Act on the May 18 Democratization Movement, along with charges of insult and defamation.
