A man has been arrested in possession of a firearm at a golf course in California scheduled to be visited by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times reported on the 4th (local time) that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrested a man on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition inside the Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, located in southern LA, on the 2nd.

The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Zenin John Taele, a resident of nearby Downey.

Local media reported that at the time of his arrest, he was roaming the golf club carrying a 16-round magazine loaded with live ammunition while taking photos, seemingly inspecting the security situation.

The sheriff's department discovered a loaded handgun and additional ammunition in the man's vehicle parked in the lot, and found an AR rifle, a .45-caliber handgun, body armor, and a large quantity of handgun ammunition at his residence. Authorities also secured two wireless signal devices and multiple notebooks containing phrases raising suspicion of criminal intent.

The sheriff's department stated, "This incident highlights the importance of proactive measures to identify and investigate suspicious activities in advance."

President Trump's visit to the golf course will proceed as scheduled this afternoon.

President Trump, who is visiting California and Nevada over a two-day period, will host a Republican fundraising event at his golf club this evening.

This marks President Trump's first visit to the LA area since his re-election, following his inspection of the Palisades wildfire damage in January 2025.
