To keep his promise to show the dog the world, he put some of the ashes into a weather balloon and sent them up into the sky.

Equipped with a camera and GPS, the apparatus soared to an altitude of 36 km, and as it burst at a height where the Earth could be overlooked, the dog's ashes scattered into the atmosphere.

The scattered ashes are said to return to the ground with the rain about six months later.
