Guatemala's prominent active volcano, Mount Fuego, has erupted, prompting the highest level of disaster alert, a red alert, across three neighboring provinces and the evacuation of about 1,000 residents.

Foreign media reported on the 4th, local time, that the 3,763-meter-high Fuego Volcano has been showing active eruption patterns since the previous day, releasing lava and pyroclastic flows down the valley along its southwestern slope.

Guatemala's disaster management agency stated that columns of ash and gas soared up to an altitude of 6,000 meters due to the eruption, with lava and pyroclastic flows streaming down the mountain slopes, and that 1,000 residents from nearby villages have been evacuated.
