In Incheon, two men in their 20s lost consciousness and collapsed due to the heatwave while watching a professional baseball game.

At around 9:59 PM yesterday (August 4), during the Incheon game between SSG and LG, players and umpires preparing for the top of the 9th inning simultaneously turned their attention toward the stands.

A man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, who was cheering in the stands on the first-base side, suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed.

After emergency workers performed CPR and even used an automated external defibrillator, Mr. A regained consciousness and was immediately transported to a hospital.

The game resumed after a nine-minute suspension, but right after the game ended, another spectator in his 20s, Mr. B, collapsed in the stands.

Mr. B also regained consciousness following CPR and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Yesterday, the KBO revised its operational guidelines to allow games to be delayed or cancelled early during severe heatwaves.

Under the revised rules, if a heatwave warning or higher is issued, games can be delayed by up to one hour reflecting the home team's opinion, and games will be cancelled if a severe heatwave alert is issued.

In fact, the games in Jamsil and Gwangju, where severe heatwave alerts were issued, were cancelled early on.

However, no severe heatwave alert was issued for Incheon, so the game proceeded as scheduled, leading to the dangerous incidents.

The SSG club stated that a total of 25 heat-related illness cases were reported at the stadium yesterday, including the two severe patients who lost consciousness.
