A 30-year-old Polish swimmer has successfully become the first person in history to cross the Baltic Sea by swimming from Sweden to Poland, local media TVP reported on August 3 (local time).

Kubkowski set off from Koseberga in southern Sweden on July 31 and arrived at the coast of Dziwnów in northwestern Poland at 8:00 PM on August 2 after swimming a distance of approximately 160 kilometers.

In accordance with the rules, he did not rest or sleep during the swim.

He successfully completed the Baltic Sea crossing by swimming for 56 hours without receiving any outside assistance from his feeding and medical support boat.

Kubkowski, who experienced hallucinations on the second night, stumbled as he climbed onto the coastal sand and collapsed into a sitting position.

When asked how he felt about crossing the Baltic Sea, he said, "I am too exhausted to know yet."

Nicknamed "Foka" (Seal), this was his fifth attempt to cross the Baltic Sea.

Last year, he lost consciousness just 11 kilometers short of the finish line and was rescued by his support team.

Under the name "Ultra Baltic Swim Project," he has been swimming across the Baltic Sea since 2021 to raise funds for children battling cancer.

TVP reported that he raised approximately 600,000 zlotys (approx. 230 million won) this time.
