U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent predicted that an agreement with Iran regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz could be reached on the 4th or 5th local time.

Appearing on CNBC, Secretary Bessent said, "Last week, President Donald Trump threatened actions that could have been one of the largest military operations since World War II against Iran, and as a result, we are currently in negotiations with Iran."

He added, "I think an agreement can be reached today or tomorrow to open the strait and guide this conflict into a more normal phase."

When asked whether Iran would impose some form of toll if the Strait of Hormuz is opened, or if it would be completely open for anyone to pass through freely, Secretary Bessent replied, "It will be open for free passage."
