Following yesterday (Aug. 3), easterly winds continue to funnel intense heat into western regions today (Aug. 4).

Showery clouds have also developed across various inland areas this afternoon. While easterly winds are expected to persist for the time being, Typhoon Dolphin is also moving westward, which is projected to add strength to these easterly winds.

The typhoon's projected path remains highly fluid.

It is expected to pass near Okinawa, Japan, around the weekend. As the red forecast circle—representing the 70% probability radius of the typhoon's location—grows larger, its future path remains highly unpredictable.

Meanwhile, the severe heatwave warning, the highest tier of heatwave advisories, was issued across all of Seoul today for the first time this summer.

Severe heatwave warnings have also been issued in Incheon, southern Gyeonggi Province, and parts of the Honam region.

Seoul's daytime high reached 36.9°C today, breaking its highest temperature of the year in just a single day. Tomorrow is expected to see temperatures climb to 38°C, with intense heat persisting through the night as perceived temperatures stay above 30°C.

As nighttime heat has intensified further, special attention must be paid to heat-related illnesses.

Showers are forecasted in various parts of the western regions tomorrow as well, while rain is expected in the mountainous areas of Jeju tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

Tropical nights will continue in most regions tonight.

Tomorrow's daytime highs are forecast to reach up to 38°C in Seoul and Jeonju.

Rain is in the forecast for the east coast and Jeju this weekend, while inland areas will generally remain clear for the time being.
