Having worn a white shirt in their second match against Singapore that ended in a draw, Coach Kim Sang-sik stepped out for the away match in Indonesia wearing his lucky "black shirt," which he has worn during every major tournament victory.

The effect of the "black shirt" was unmistakable.

Vietnam opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the first half through crisp passing play, and widened the gap 8 minutes later when Nguyen Hai Long scored following a 60-meter storming run during a counterattack.

With Xuan Son adding a sealing goal in the 26th minute of the second half for a 3-0 victory, Vietnam reclaimed the group lead with 2 wins and 1 draw, boosting their chances of advancing to the semifinals.
