Civilian casualties mounted after a drone exploded on a beach at a resort in southern Russia on August 3 (local time).

Russian authorities stated that the resulting victims reached seven, including three children, and accused Ukraine of carrying out the attack.

According to Reuters and the BBC, authorities said that seven people, including three children, were killed when a drone crashed and exploded on a beach along the Black Sea coast in southern Russia that day.

It has not been verified what target the drone was aiming for.

Authorities in Russia's Krasnodar Krai accused Ukraine of targeting civilians on the beach in Arkhipo-Osipovka.

Ukraine has not yet issued an official statement.

Videos capturing the moment a drone crashed into the beach and exploded spread across Russian social media.

Tourists were staying at the beach at the time.

According to Russian media, some witnesses testified that gunfire resembling a machine gun was heard right before the explosion.

Because of this, some raised the possibility that Russian air defenses attempted to intercept the drone.

Local residents reported that there were no air raid sirens prior to the drone attack.

Arkhipo-Osipovka, where the incident occurred, is one of Russia's representative resort areas.

In particular, it has established itself as a popular domestic tourist destination for Russians whose overseas travel has been restricted following Western sanctions.

The Novoselki industrial complex on the outskirts of the Russian capital, Moscow, was also hit by a drone attack.

Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov stated that multiple fires broke out after the Novoselki industrial complex was struck by a drone in the early hours of August 4.

He added that there are preliminary reports indicating five people were killed and six injured in the attack.

In addition, AFP reported that a warehouse near Krasny Bor in northwestern Russia suffered damage from a drone attack, leaving one person injured.

In waters near Novorossiysk, Russia, a cargo ship traveling from Novorossiysk to the Turkish port of Samsun was hit by a drone attack, leaving three crew members severely injured.

A fire broke out on the cargo ship and has not yet been brought under control, while 22 crew members were evacuated to Russia.

Reuters also reported that a drone attacked a vehicle in Russia's Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, killing one person and injuring two others.

Over the past year, Ukraine has expanded long-distance attacks targeting deep inside the Russian mainland and key maritime routes around the Black Sea.

Recently, it has intensively targeted the logistics warehouses of Wildberries, Russia's largest e-commerce company.

Ukraine claims that Wildberries' logistics network is being utilized for Russian military supplies.

In response, Russia has been attacking residential areas and cities in Ukraine.

Reuters reported that on August 4 as well, Russia launched an air-to-surface guided missile attack on Sumy in northern Ukraine, killing two children and an elderly person, while an 89-year-old was killed in a Russian attack in the southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv.
