Tropical night phenomena, where temperatures remain above 25°C (77°F) throughout the night, were observed across coastal areas of Jeju.

According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration today (August 4), tropical nights occurred across all coastal regions between last evening and this morning, with overnight lows reaching 28.2°C (83°F) in Jeju (northern area), 29.1°C (84°F) in Seogwipo (southern area), 25.9°C (79°F) in Gosan (western area), and 27.3°C (81°F) in Seongsan (eastern area).

This year's cumulative number of tropical nights by location stands at 28 days for Jeju, 27 days for Seogwipo, 24 days for Gosan, and 17 days for Seongsan.

In Jeju proper, tropical nights have continued for 28 consecutive days since the first tropical night of the year was recorded on July 7.

Currently, tropical night advisories are in effect for all of Jeju City and Seogwipo City, excluding mid-mountainous areas.

A tropical night refers to a phenomenon where the lowest temperature does not drop below 25°C (77°F) from 6:01 PM to 9:00 AM the following morning.

When temperatures exceed 25°C (77°F), it becomes difficult for people to easily fall asleep, making it an indicator used to measure severe heat.
