Wall Street Rises on Trump's Cancellation of Iran Strike and Tech Rally; Nasdaq Up 2%

On August 3, local time, the first trading day of August, the three major New York stock indices all rose by more than 1%, driven by expectations of eased military conflict following U.S. President Donald Trump's cancellation of an attack on Iran and a strong rally in major technology stocks.

On this day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 693.38 points, or 1.32%, at 53,178.41 compared to the previous trading day.

The S&P 500 rose 110.78 points, or 1.48%, to finish at 7,600.50, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 540.04 points, or 2.13%, to close at 25,913.90.
