New allegations have emerged regarding the National Election Commission's manipulation of voter counts. It has been revealed that when a local election commission reported a mistaken entry of voter numbers during the past local elections, the National Election Commission instructed them to dispersedly input the numbers across other polling districts.

On the day of the main voting for the June 3 local elections, the North Chungcheong Provincial Election Commission mistakenly entered the number of voters as of 10 a.m. at the No. 2 polling station in Jincheon-eup, Jincheon-gun, as 501—higher than the actual number of people who voted—and inquired with the National Election Commission on how to proceed. Documents confirm that the National Election Commission instructed them to modify the entry by dispersing the over-counted voters across eight other polling districts.

The instructions were to reduce the 501 voters at the No. 2 polling station to 301, and instead add 200 more voters to eight other polling stations, 25 to each.

Records show that the National Election Commission gave the exact same instructions to the No. 2 polling station in Gurae-dong, Gimpo, where the number of voters had been entered as 2,000 higher than the actual count.

This meant that instead of correcting the errors caused by misentered voter numbers according to actual figures, they ordered slapdash modifications.

In the document, the National Election Commission recorded the reason for giving such absurd instructions as the concern that if they reduced and corrected the voter counts to match the actual figures, the total disclosed number of voters would decrease, potentially raising suspicions.

Yesterday (the 2nd), People Power Party Representative Joo Jin-woo, who raised allegations of voter count manipulation during last year's presidential election, stated that the so-called "twin polling districts" phenomenon appeared during the 2024 general elections.

He stated that the voter counts at polling districts 1 and 6 in Bulgwang 1-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, increased identically in units of one or two hundred people over a six-hour period.

Representative Joo claimed that such "twin polling districts" occurred in 5 pairs, totaling 10 locations nationwide at the time, which can be seen as circumstantial evidence that the election commission arbitrarily fabricated and entered numbers.

In response to SBS inquiries regarding the raised allegations, the National Election Commission only stated, "We will actively cooperate with the ongoing investigation."
