A woman in her 20s has been arrested by police for stealing groceries from a supermarket while a fire was raging through a commercial building in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul.

The Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced today (August 3) that it has apprehended a woman in her 20s, identified as A, on theft charges.

A is suspected of stealing groceries from a mart inside a four-story commercial building in Sillim-dong at around 3:20 PM yesterday (August 2) while a fire broke out in the building.

While the fire prompted the evacuation of some 130 people, there were no casualties, and the blaze was completely extinguished by around 4:00 PM.

It was reported that A stole the items on a sudden impulse and later returned to the mart to confess to the theft.

Police plan to investigate A to determine the exact circumstances of the crime.
