A fire broke out at an auto repair shop in Deogi-dong, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, at around 12:30 p.m. today (August 3).

No casualties have been reported so far, but thick black smoke billowed from the scene, prompting a flurry of related reports.

Fire authorities mobilized 29 pieces of equipment and 73 personnel to bring the major fire under control and are currently working on extinguishing the remaining flames.

Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage once the fire is completely extinguished.

The city of Goyang issued a safety advisory text message urging nearby residents to move away from the fire scene and advising vehicles to detour around the accident site.
