The Marine Corps announced today (the 3rd) that a non-commissioned officer was found dead following a firearms accident at a Marine Corps officers' and NCOs' quarters in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.

The incident occurred at an off-base quarters exclusively for military personnel, and the deceased is known to have held the rank of sergeant.

It was reported that no signs of foul play by an outside party were found at the scene.

A Marine Corps official stated, "We are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident in cooperation with related agencies, including the military and police."
