Electric Vehicle Catches Fire in Incheon Vacant Lot, Damaging 9 Vehicles

A fire broke out in an electric vehicle parked in a vacant lot in Incheon, damaging a total of nine vehicles including the EV.

According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters, a report was received by 119 at around 8:00 p.m. yesterday (August 2) stating that a fire had broken out in an electric vehicle parked in a vacant lot in Wanggil-dong, Geomdan-gu.

The fire spread to nearby parked vehicles, completely destroying two and partially burning seven others.

Fire authorities, dispatched after receiving a report from a passerby, completely extinguished the fire in 18 minutes.

It was reported that several vehicles presumed to be broken down were parked in this vacant lot.

Fire authorities believe the fire originated from the electric vehicle's battery and plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
