Senior Israeli defense and diplomatic officials were completely unaware at the time that U.S. President Donald Trump had canceled a planned military strike against Iran, Israeli Channel 12 reported on the 2nd (local time).

According to the report, the United States and Israel began formulating operational plans for an attack on Iran on June 29, the day after the leaders of the two countries met.

An anonymous U.S. official explained that the U.S. Central Command, which oversees the Middle East, prepared an attack plan targeting Iran's energy infrastructure, and Israel was set to be included in the operation.

However, President Trump abruptly called off the strike about 24 hours before it was set to begin, and Israel had no knowledge of this decision whatsoever.

A senior Israeli official said, "For several hours, we were in a state of practical uncertainty. President Trump left us in a fog, and senior generals could only figure out the situation through Trump's social media."

The official complained, "After President Trump posted that he was canceling the strike, we even felt as though we had been abandoned."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and other high-ranking officials reportedly learned that the Iran strike had been called off only after seeing President Trump's social media post.

Israel initially thought President Trump's announcement canceling the strike was a sort of deception tactic meant to reassure Iran, but officials eventually contacted their U.S. partners and confirmed President Trump's decision, according to the report.

Another senior Israeli official voiced frustration, saying, "We poured all of our resources into a single operational sector, only to realize later that we maintained a high state of alert for no reason. We cannot understand what the president's ultimate intention is."

Israel believes that President Trump could change his mind again at any moment, and as a result, the Israeli military continues to maintain its highest level of readiness, the broadcast reported.
