Hyundai E&C Suffers Consecutive Loss to Osaka After Shanghai, Finishing Super Match Winless

Women's professional volleyball team Hyundai E&C wrapped up the 2026 Jeju Korea-China-Japan Women's Volleyball Top Club Super Match with two losses.

Hyundai E&C was defeated 0-3 (20-25, 17-25, 26-28) in set scores by Japan's representative Osaka Marvelous on the second day of the tournament held at the Jeju Halla Gymnasium today (August 2).

Having lost 0-3 to China's representative Shanghai Bright Ubest the previous day as well, Hyundai E&C failed to win a single set across both matches.

On the other hand, Osaka, which defeated Heungkuk Life Insurance 3-0 the day before, secured two straight victories.

Osaka's Kotona Hayashi and Airi Furukawa led the team to victory by scoring 16 points each.

In particular, Hayashi showed high efficiency, recording an attack success rate of 59.26% with only three errors.

For Hyundai E&C, Lee Chae-young put up a strong fight, scoring a match-high 17 points, including three blocks.

After falling behind 3-8 early in the first set, Hyundai E&C closed the gap to 12-14 propelled by Kang Seo-woo's service ace and Bae Yu-na's block, but gave up the opening set after allowing a quick open attack to Airi Furukawa at 20-24.

In the second set, holding a 9-7 lead, they conceded eight consecutive points and lost momentum, eventually dropping the second set 17-25 without being able to turn the tide.

In the final third set, trailing 15-12, they scored six consecutive points fueled by Koo Sol's two blocks and Lee Chae-young's three points to turn the game around at 18-15.

However, after allowing a 20-20 tie and heading into a deuce battle, they conceded successive quick open attacks to Furukawa and Hayashi at 26-26, losing 26-28.
