A fire broke out at a cement plant in Hanbando-myeon, Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, at around 9:30 AM today (August 2) and was extinguished in about an hour.

The fire occurred on an external conveyor belt of the plant, and firefighting authorities arrived at the scene about 10 minutes after receiving the report to conduct firefighting operations.

After confirming the evacuation of workers inside the plant and verifying that the internal fire suppression system was operating normally, firefighting authorities deployed an aerial ladder truck and carried out water spraying, completely extinguishing the fire at around 10:40 AM, roughly an hour after it started.

Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Fire authorities and the police are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
