Today (August 1), daytime temperatures in Yangsan soared to 41.6°C (106.9°F), marking the highest temperature ever recorded since modern weather observations began. Meanwhile, overnight areas along the east coast, including Gangneung, experienced "super tropical nights."

Over the past night, the country saw its first super tropical night phenomenon of the year.

This occurred in the Gangwon east coast region.

As westerly winds blew over the mountain ranges and compressed, the air heated up, causing the lowest temperatures in parts of the Gangwon east coast region to exceed 30°C (86°F), resulting in a super tropical night.

Unprecedented and extreme heatwaves are also continuing, primarily centering around the South Gyeongsang region.

Temperatures in various parts of South Gyeongsang are exceeding 39°C (102.2°F).

In particular, looking at the current temperature in Yangsan, it surged to 41.6°C (106.9°F), breaking records once again as the highest temperature ever recorded in South Korea's weather observation history.

Since the sunlight is strongest until 5:00 PM,

please strictly refrain from outdoor activities.

Next week, the heatwave is expected to peak in western regions, including Seoul.

Daytime temperatures in Seoul are forecasted to rise up to 37°C (98.6°F) starting next Tuesday.

Looking closely at tomorrow morning's temperatures, muggy tropical nights will continue with Gangneung at 28°C (82.4°F) and Jeju at 27°C (80.6°F).

Tomorrow's daytime temperatures will be just as scorching as today, with Seoul at 35°C (95°F), Gwangju at 38°C (100.4°F), and Changwon and Busan at 39°C (102.2°F).

With no rain in the forecast for next week as well, the heatwave is expected to be prolonged.
