Kim Si-woo has moved up to the middle tier, reaching the midway point of the PGA Tour Rocket Classic.

Kim, ranked 7th in the FedEx Cup standings, shot a 4-under-par 66 with four birdies and no bogeys in the second round held at the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan, USA.

With a halfway total of 5-under-par 135, Kim climbed to a tied 32nd place.

Sitting 5 strokes behind the three co-leaders—Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay, and Patrick Fishburn, who posted a halfway total of 10-under-par 130—he has left room to make a charge into the upper tier in the remaining rounds.

Young, ranked 3rd in the FedEx Cup standings, shot a 61 to break the course record once again, following Peter Malnati, who recorded a 61 in the first round.

Kim improved the accuracy of his tee shots (71.4%) and iron shots (88.9%), which were shaky in the first round, and capitalized on his birdie opportunities.

After landing his second shot on the green at the 4th hole (par 5) and finishing with two putts, Kim added a birdie with a 1.5-meter putt at the 5th hole (par 3).

Continuing a streak of pars, Kim broke the silence with a 3.5-meter birdie putt at the 12th hole (par 4) and successfully sank a birdie putt from just under 3 meters at the 16th hole (par 4).

Im Sung-jae, who started the opening day in the middle tier, managed to shave off only one stroke in the second round with three birdies and two bogeys, dropping to a tied 48th place (4-under-par 136).

While his tee shots and iron shots were not bad, his play on the greens was poor, recording a strokes gained-putting score of -1.053.
