The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced today (August 1) that it caught 13 drunk drivers during a special vacation-season crackdown.

The operation took place over two hours starting at 10:00 PM yesterday at 22 locations, including nightlife districts, busy downtown areas, and highway toll gates across the southern Gyeonggi region, mobilizing 119 police officers and 69 patrol cars.

The offenses included 6 license revocations, 5 license suspensions, and 2 cases requiring blood draws.

In Suwon, a driver in their 30s was caught driving about 200 meters from Ingye-dong to the road in front of Suwon City Hall in Gwonseon-dong with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.116%, well over the legal limit.

In Ansan, a driver in their 40s was caught driving a cargo truck for about 100 meters while under the influence at a level warranting license revocation.

A police official stated, "We are operating a special crackdown period through the 31st of this month for the summer vacation season," urging, "If you have even a single glass of alcohol, please use a designated driver or public transportation."
