Coach Kim Sang-sik's Vietnam national football team played to a draw against Singapore in their second match of the 2026 ASEAN Championship Hyundai Cup.

Led by head coach Kim Sang-sik, Vietnam ended in a 0-0 stalemate against Singapore in their Group A second match of the tournament held at Mỹ Đình National Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Failing to maintain the momentum from their 7-0 landslide victory against Timor-Leste in the first match, Vietnam dropped to third place among the five teams in Group A.

Singapore, having played one more match, moved to the top of the group with two wins and a draw for 7 points, while Indonesia took second place with two wins.

Vietnam extended its undefeated streak to 20 matches (17 wins and 3 draws).

This marks the longest consecutive undefeated record in Vietnamese football history.

Vietnam will play its third group-stage match against powerhouse Indonesia on the 3rd.

Coach Kim took the helm of the Vietnamese national team in 2024, proving his leadership by winning the 2024 ASEAN Championship and securing early qualification for the 2027 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup finals.

Held every two years, the Hyundai Cup determines the strongest football nation in Southeast Asia and is dubbed the World Cup of Southeast Asia.

Formerly known as the Suzuki Cup and Mitsubishi Cup, the tournament's title sponsor changed to Hyundai in celebration of its 30th anniversary.

As the defending champions, Vietnam is aiming for consecutive tournament titles and its fourth championship overall.
