Nvidia, the leading artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor company, has reclaimed its position as the world's most valuable company by market capitalization from Apple just four days after losing the top spot.

According to the U.S. stock market on the 31st (local time), Nvidia's stock price closed the regular session up 2.93% at $200.75.

Consequently, Nvidia's market capitalization on a closing price basis reached $4.86 trillion, surpassing Apple to regain the top spot.

In contrast, Apple plunged 7.35% to close at $308.91.

Its market capitalization also shrank back to around $4.54 trillion.

Through its earnings report the previous day, Apple projected that revenue growth would be limited due to supply constraints from July to September, triggering a sell-off driven by disappointment during the regular session.

While major tech companies in New York stock trading—including the world's top three cloud providers Alphabet, Microsoft, and Amazon—showed an upward trend, Apple's stock plummeted alone.

This is interpreted as the result of recent earnings announcements proving to some extent the solid momentum of AI infrastructure businesses, including cloud computing.

Apple's stock had risen for several days driven by minimized AI-related investments, but the trend reversed as supply shortages for memory and semiconductors driven by AI weighed down its earnings outlook.
