Daytime temperatures in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, which have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius for several days, climbed to 41.4°C (106.5°F) today (the 31st), setting a record for the highest temperature ever recorded in South Korea. Extreme heat waves are continuing, centered around the Gyeongnam region.

Unbearable and extreme heat continues to grip the Gyeongnam region.

While the highest level of heat wave special warning, a severe heat wave warning, remains in effect across various parts of the Gyeongnam region, daytime temperatures in Yangsan soared to 41.4°C (106.5°F) today, marking the highest temperature ever recorded since meteorological observations began.

Notably, Yangsan has experienced unprecedented heat exceeding 40 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.

Looking ahead, daytime temperatures in Yangsan are expected to rise close to 40 degrees Celsius until Sunday, and starting next week, wind directions are projected to shift to easterlies, driving temperatures even higher in western regions including Seoul.

Tropical night advisories also remain in effect across various parts of the country.

Sweltering heat with no relief day or night will continue to rage.

Tomorrow morning's lowest temperatures will be muggy at 27°C (81°F) in Gangneung, Daegu, and Jeju, while tomorrow's daytime temperatures will soar to around 37°C (99°F) in Gangneung, and 38°C (100°F) in Changwon and Busan, bringing heat as intense as today's.

Next week, the heat wave in western regions is expected to reach its peak.
