A dispute between elementary school students at an apartment playground in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, escalated, prompting a police response.
According to the Seoul Suseo Police Station on Friday (July 31), a 112 emergency call was reported at around 2 p.m. on July 20, stating that an elementary school student had pulled out a weapon while arguing with a friend at an apartment playground in Gaepo-dong.
Investigations showed that while the two students were engaged in a verbal argument, one student assaulted the other, prompting the student who was struck to go home, retrieve a weapon, and confront the other.
The two students were identified as attending the same elementary school.
Police are conducting a pre-booking investigation (internal inquiry) to determine the specific details of the incident.
Because they are juveniles under the age of criminal responsibility, they will not face criminal punishment.
However, depending on the severity of the act, they could be referred to the Family Court's juvenile division.
