The KOSPI, which had fallen for three consecutive days, is continuing its sharp rally right after the market opened today (the 31st). Surging by more than 10%, it briefly reclaimed the 6,500 level during intraday trading.

The KOSPI, which had dropped for three consecutive days, surged immediately after the market opened today, easily surpassing the 6,000 mark.

Just six minutes after the market opened, a buy sidecar was triggered, suspending program buy orders for five minutes. The index later expanded its gains, briefly breaking past the 6,500 mark.

While foreign investors, who are net buyers of over 6 trillion won, are leading the upward trend, retail investors have maintained a sell-off for the third consecutive day.

Overnight on Wall Street, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surged by over 8%, and SK Hynix ADRs—which had recently experienced a sharp decline—also jumped by 17.52%, with major semiconductor stocks posting double-digit surges.

The KOSPI 200 nighttime futures also soared to the daily price limit of 8%.

This favorable momentum carried over into our market today, with both Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix showing intraday gains in the 20% range.

Other major market capitalization stocks, such as SK Square and Samsung Electro-Mechanics, are also exhibiting significant upward movements.

The KOSDAQ index also saw a buy sidecar triggered just six minutes after opening, maintaining its upward trajectory and briefly reclaiming the 700 level during intraday trading.

In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate is trading in the mid-1,430 won range.

Meanwhile, starting today, financial authorities are implementing supplementary measures regarding single-stock leverage ETFs, which have been pointed out as the main culprit behind increased volatility.

Accordingly, the basic deposit requirement has been raised to 30 million won, and substitute securities such as stocks and bonds—which were previously recognized up to 70% of their market value—will no longer be accepted.
