The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced today (July 31) that it will expand the Dementia Care Physician Pilot Program to 92 cities, counties, and districts nationwide starting August 3.

Launched in July 2024, the program is a medical service designed to help dementia patients systematically receive treatment and management for not only dementia symptoms but also overall health issues in their local areas.

Through a public contest for the pilot project, the ministry has additionally selected 102 doctors and 79 medical institutions, expanding the target regions from the current 42 cities, counties, and districts to 92, while increasing the number of dementia care physicians from 315 to 417.

From its implementation in July 2024 through June of this year, approximately 7,000 patients have received treatment and care in their local communities through the pilot program.
