Actor Kim Minha has been selected as the sole host for the opening ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival.

Since her debut in 2016, Kim has steadily built her filmography across both the silver screen and television. She gained widespread global attention for her role as the young Sunja in the globally acclaimed Apple TV+ series Pachinko (2022, 2024), where she delicately and densely portrayed a character living a resilient life amidst the turbulent waves of history. Building on this success, she secured the Rookie Award in the TV category at the 2022 Asian American Awards, proving her potential on the international stage.

She has since expanded her acting spectrum by moving across various genres in dramas such as Light Shop (2024), One Week Before I Die (2025), and The Typhoon Company (2025), as well as the film Hana Korea (2026). Her progressive career moves and solid acting skills have earned praise from domestic and international critics, cementing her presence as a representative next-generation Korean actor and icon through successive wins including Best Actress in the International Competition category at the 2025 Seoul International Drama Awards, Best New Actress at the 2025 Blue Dragon Series Awards, and Best Actress (Rising Star) at the 2026 Korea First Brand Awards.

The Busan International Film Festival stated, "This selection of the host is the result of focusing on actor Kim Minha's unique career path, as she has faithfully represented the inner depths of characters with profound interpretation in every work. We expect that Kim, who has captivated audiences with a serious yet confident demeanor through diverse project activities, will further brighten the stature of the festival with her stable hosting at this opening ceremony."

The 31st Busan International Film Festival, hosted alongside Kim Minha, will run for 10 days from Tuesday, October 6 to Thursday, October 15 around the Cinema Center area.
