Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has posted a social media message seemingly targeting Israel in connection with the drone strike incident at Egypt's Port of Damietta.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on the 30th (local time), Araghchi wrote, "Egypt is an important ally and partner in the region, and Egypt's security is of the utmost importance to us."

He added, "We must all remain vigilant against Israel's conspiracies and false-flag operations designed to undermine regional peace," and stated, "The threat is clear, shared, and fears Muslim solidarity."

This statement is interpreted as an effort to deny Iran's involvement and raise suspicions against Israel regarding the drone incident that occurred the previous day at Egypt's Port of Damietta.

However, Araghchi did not explicitly conclude that Israel was behind the attack.

According to the U.S. daily The New York Times (NYT), an Israeli military spokesperson denied Araghchi's insinuation, stating that Israel has nothing to do with the attack.

Previously, Egyptian authorities announced on the 29th that fires at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility and a carrier vessel at the Port of Damietta were caused by a drone.

No injuries or deaths have been reported.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Yemen's pro-Iran Houthi rebels issued a statement on the day of the incident claiming they were not involved.

U.S. broadcaster CNN pointed out that if this incident is confirmed to be an intentional attack, it would mark the first instance of Egypt being drawn into the expanding regional conflict.
