A man repeatedly smashes a subway window with a fire extinguisher.

After several impacts, the glass shatters into pieces.

At the time, a severe rainstorm cut off power and suspended subway operations, leaving passengers trapped inside a stationary train for over an hour.

As proper ventilation failed and an increasing number of passengers complained of claustrophobia and anxiety, one man ultimately used a fire extinguisher to break the window and attempt to ventilate the train.

Due to the strong winds that day, damage was reported across Rio de Janeiro, including fallen trees and power outages, and in some sections, passengers even had to get off the trains and escape along the tracks.
