The United States has resumed airstrikes against Iran after a six-day pause. This is a retaliatory response to Iran's preemptive attack on a U.S. military base. President Trump issued a strong warning against Iran, even using profanity, while international oil prices surged.

Fighter jets scramble from a U.S. naval fleet.

Missiles strike small boats along the coast and craters believed to be underground military facilities.

The U.S. Central Command announced that it struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in southern Iranian regions, including Qeshm Island, at around this morning, Korean time (July 30).

This comes six days after the U.S. paused its nighttime airstrikes, which had continued for 13 days.

Iranian state television broadcasted footage of search operations amid collapsed buildings, reporting that residential areas were also attacked.

What provoked the United States was Iran's attack.

Previously, Iran broke a lull in the war by firing ballistic missiles toward a U.S. military base in Jordan.

The surprise attack, launched on the day of the summit between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was interpreted as an attempt to seize the initiative in the conflict.

In a broadcast interview, Trump stated that they would "beat them up."

However, he left room for a potential agreement.

The U.S. also moved to choke off Iran's financial lifelines by placing two companies funding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the sanctions list.

Eight companies associated with the so-called "shadow fleet" that transports Iranian crude oil were sanctioned as well.

Iran and pro-Iranian militant groups in the Middle East are also attacking energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Amid the currents of a reignited war, international oil prices reacted sensitively, with the closing price of Brent crude futures for September delivery soaring by 7.9%.
