SK Hynix wrapped up regular market trading today (July 30) with a sharp decline of over 5%.

Although it briefly rebounded during the morning session to surge 4.14% to 1.459 million won, selling pressure resumed later, resulting in a steep plunge for the third consecutive trading day.

Considering that its closing price stood at 1.816 million won on July 27, the stock has tumbled 27.21% over the past three trading days.

Samsung Electronics finished the session down 0.72% at 207,000 won.

Samsung Electronics has recorded a decline of 18.50% over the past three trading days.

The previous day, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix plunged 5.23% and 9.61%, respectively, in the wake of SK Hynix reporting second-quarter earnings that fell short of market expectations and its subsequent conference call.

Following this, Samsung Electronics announced during its earnings conference call that infrastructure investments by hyperscalers (large-scale data center operators) will continue to drive even stronger memory demand in the second half of this year, adding that next year "the supply-demand gap will widen further compared to this year."

Investor sentiment was given a positive boost as Samsung reaffirmed its commitment to faithfully executing its shareholder return policy, which allocates 50% of its free cash flow (FCF) to dividends and treasury stock cancellations.

While bargain hunting flowed in following the consecutive days of plunging prices, appearing to reverse the mood, it seemed to lack the momentum needed to drive a definitive rebound.
