The United States and Iran have clashed once again, breaking a five-day lull. Iran launched a preemptive strike on a U.S. military base in Jordan, and the United States immediately retaliated with airstrikes.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it attacked a U.S. military base in Jordan on the 28th local time.

In a statement, the Revolutionary Guard claimed, "In response to aggressive U.S. actions, we struck a U.S. Air Force base and central command post stationed in Jordan with multiple ballistic missiles."

It warned that resistance would continue if threats persist, but did not specify what "aggressive actions" it was referring to.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed the Iranian attack, stating that "all were successfully intercepted."

A U.S.-owned liquefied natural gas storage facility in Egypt was also struck by a drone.

During a broadcast interview, U.S. President Donald Trump used profanity, vowing to hit back hard and pledging further attacks.

The United States immediately launched retaliatory attacks, stating that airstrikes against Iran are currently underway.

The U.S., alongside Saudi Arabia, also carried out airstrikes against pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of State designated Iran's Persian Gulf Marine Insurance and the Hormuz Safe Marine Services Organization—which have been levying Hormuz transit fees—as funding sources for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, placing them under sanctions.

Eight companies related to the so-called "shadow fleet" transporting Iranian crude oil were also sanctioned together.
